The Difference Between An Unpaid College Tutor And A College Professor
The Difference Between An Unpaid College Tutor And A College ProfessorDid you know that an unpaid college tutor has the same job description as a college professor? There are several differences between a college professor and an unpaid college tutor. The first difference is that a college professor has a set of criteria to be met before being considered for tenure. An unpaid college tutor does not have such a strict tenure requirement. One of the main reasons for this difference in job description is that a college professor has to continue to write papers for credit in order to keep his or her job.Another difference between an unpaid college professor and a college professor is that college professors must be open to new ideas. An unpaid college tutor will not have to constantly debate with his or her peers about new ideas. Because of this, the college professor is always looking for new topics to teach. On the other hand, the college professor has to go through an extensive number of applications just to get the attention of a single college. The last difference between a college professor and an unpaid college tutor is that a college professor can make a large amount of money. While there are many colleges that have very little teaching staff, others have very large staffs that can make a college professor very wealthy. One of the reasons why an unpaid college professor can make a large amount of money is because he or she has access to one of the highest paying college degrees in the country. Other differences between an unpaid college professor and a college professor are that the college professor has to write a lot of papers and will be responsible for reviewing his or her own writing. With the amount of competition for student applicants at colleges, a college professor must compete on many different levels. However, these differences between an unpaid college professor and a college professor do not mean that the college professor will never earn any mone y. In fact, in some cases, the college professor is actually considered to be a better candidate for tenure then an unpaid college tutor. On the other hand, the college professor must have good letters of recommendation, a compelling teaching record, and must have many years of professional experience before being considered for tenure. The bottom line is that the college professor has the job title of a college professor, and they do have a certain set of qualifications that must be met before being considered for tenure. The best college professors of all have a resume that spells out their teaching experience, recent publications, and letters of recommendation.

College Students Split On ADHD Prescription Stimulants Abuse
College Students Split On ADHD Prescription Stimulants Abuse Photo Credit: gwhatchet.com The results show that while students are aware of the risks of misusing, they can understand why some students may decide to misuse, especially due to the pressures on students in todays college environments. CPAMMs survey was done online from May 15 to June 11, 2014 and 2,056 adult college students in the U.S. who were enrolled in a 4-year college or university and going to some in-person classes were participants. The purpose of the study was so CPAMM could better advise and develop an educational strategy to aid in preventing the non-medical use of ADHD prescription stimulants. According to the survey, college students think that taking ADHD prescription stimulant medications that werent prescribed to them would be unethical (75 percent), a form of cheating if used to help with schoolwork (59 percent), extremely harmful (73 percent), and a big deal (80 percent) if someone who doesnt have ADHD uses the medication. Of those surveyed, 65 percent compared students misusing ADHD prescription stimulants for academic purposes to athletes using performance-enhancing drugs. While it seems that that most college students view the misuse of ADHD prescription stimulants as wrong, 24 percent of students thought it was okay for someone who didnt have a prescription for the ADHD drugs to use them to help with school. Meanwhile, 48 percent believed students who misused ADHD prescription stimulants are only doing whats necessary to keep up with the demands and pressures of college. Photo Credit: hometestingblog.testcountry.com Additionally, 42 percent of students wrongly thought that using unprescribed ADHD prescription stimulants is not any more harmful than an energy drink or strong coffee. Most participants also thought that the main reasons students start misusing ADHD medicine are a determination to get good grades (70 percent) and pressure to succeed (68 percent). A belief that the majority of participants expressed was that other students are using ADHD prescription stimulants not prescribed to them, though a 2013 survey reported a rate of 9.3 percent of college students using prescription stimulants for non-medical purposes. âThe misconception that âeverybody is doing itâ and that misusing will somehow guarantee better grades is something that CPAMM hopes to challenge by creating peer-to-peer interventions for use by college students,â said Ann Quinn-Zobeck, Senior Director of the BACCHUS Initiatives of NASPA, a CPAMM partner. The study also identified that those more likely to misuse ADHD prescription stimulants are members of Greek fraternities and sororities and athletes, and they are also more likely to think using ADHD medicine will help them achieve better grades. CPAMM plans to study medical professionals to recognize primary-care based policies to help decrease ADHD prescription stimulants misuse, abuse and redirection. Throughout 2014-2015, CPAMM will also run focus groups among college students and administrators to try to better understand how the college environment influences the misuse of ADHD medication and what kind of preventative efforts would work best. âThe survey shines a light on the stress permeating the lives of students on todayâs college campuses. We want to communicate as a Coalition that there are better, healthier ways to cope,â said John MacPhee, Executive Director and CEO of The Jed Foundation, a CPAMM partner.

italki World Cup Language Challenge Week 1 Reading a Book on Camera
italki World Cup Language Challenge Week 1 Reading a Book on Camera Lindsaydoeslanguages is blogging about her World Cup Language Challenge and were reposting here to share with the entire italki Community. This blog post originally was posted on Lindsaydoeslanguages.com website. Week 1 So far, so good! Iâm four lessons into my italki World Cup Language Challenge learning Portuguese and itâs going pretty darn well. Iâve had three lessons with Brazilian Portuguese speakers and one with a European Portuguese speaker and Iâm really glad Iâve opted for the mix. Learning the two variations parallel is surprisingly fun and kind of helpful. Somehow theyâre managing to stay separate in my brain. For now, anyway! This Weekâs Goal This week, I set myself the task of reading a chapter of the book Caro Bruce Springsteen on camera. Why? Thatâs a good question! This may seem completely random but the reason is that this book cost just 50 cents from a book stall in Portugal last summer â" proof that language learning doesnât have to cost the earth. Iâm also reading because in these early stages I want to focus on pronunciation to stop me from making potential mistakes later on. If Iâm reading something out loud, then all of my attention is on whatâs on the page. I donât have to think about what Iâm going to say at the same time, which takes a lot of brain power out of pronunciation practise. I also really hate those pronunciation sections at the start of language books when they teach you completely random words just because they have a letter combination or unusual vowel sound. I learn by doing, so this is a way I can learn by doing: reading! Hereâs this weekâs (sun-tinted!) video of me reading a short chapter from the book. Enjoy!
How to Use Algebra Help Writing Expressions
How to Use Algebra Help Writing ExpressionsAlgebra help writing expressions can be a little tricky. For starters, you will need to understand some of the basic things in algebra, but beyond that you are going to need some basics to work with. A good place to start is when you are first learning the language. This will give you a better idea of how things work, and what is required. For example, you should always start your notation by writing the letter's number. That way, you will know what is coming next. By doing this, you will be able to identify what is going on. Once you understand how things work, you can use them to write your own equations. That is just what I did for my first algebra course. You will also find that algebra help writing expressions can come in handy when you are writing an equation for something like a partial differential equation (PDF). There are many different types of PDF's. The most common is the time-dependent PDF. What you want to do is begin by writing a partial differential equation. The partial differential equation represents a 2 x -2 relationship between two variables. It could be two different functions of one variable, or it could be a continuous function. You can write this in one form or another. Whatever you decide to do, just be sure that the type of equation you have is the time-dependent PDF. Once you do this, you can now use the other parts of algebra to solve this type of equation. When writing your equations, remember that there are many different types of PDF's. You will see that some of them are time dependent, and others are not. It all depends on how they are related to each other. Each PDF has a direction. The direction is denoted by the number written in brackets after the formula. If you have any questions about the direction, you should talk to the professor. For example, if the angle of the line is then equal to plus then the PDF will be time dependent. This means that as you are solving for the angle in the future, you must first know the direction. After you get this direction, you can then use the equations for the normal of the angle and the normal of the line.Doing these things will give you a better understanding of algebra help writing expressions. Do this for both the time and PDF type. That way, you will know exactly what is going on when you write your equations. You will learn how to properly represent your equations.
Tips For Tuting ESL Students
Tips For Tuting ESL StudentsIf you want to be the best tutee, or teacher in your school or at home, you must have some tips for tutoring ESL students. Without proper teaching, there is no way you can become the best. You can teach someone something, but it is the person that you are teaching that will learn how to do it.If you know you can teach English as a second language because of your background and learning experience, you need to keep in mind the teaching style that is most suited to your personality. In the beginning, when ESL classes are very new to you, it can be difficult to develop the correct teaching style. However, it is important to get your feet wet as a teacher. Get comfortable with your approach and your teaching style. This means that you should continue to read and reread the lesson plans, classroom manuals, and ESL-to-English audio material until you become comfortable with how the students learn English. You must also understand that most ESL teachers, whether t hey are working with ESL students, native English speakers, or children, have similar personalities and learning styles. There is no right or wrong way to teach, but it is crucial that you are comfortable with teaching. It can be difficult to teach all at once. You need to find the sweet spot where you can teach while still maintaining your flow of communication and being clear and efficient in your lessons. A common mistake is not setting the tone of the class. It is important to set the tone of the lessons to suit the students. For example, if you work with only three native speakers for ESL-to-English classes, they may not be interested in learning how to write and speak in English. However, if you teach them a lesson plan that encourages speaking and writing in English, they will likely become more enthusiastic about it. When they are more interested in the English language, they will learn the meaning of what you say. Some tips for tutoring ESL students include having regular chat s with them. You should be able to visit the home or office of each student. For example, if you know that a student is a home schooling parent, you should discuss the expectations and goals of that student and see how you can help them.If you know that the student has a hearing problem, you may want to make sure you mention that. You can also help them by talking with the teacher about what they need to do to prepare for the test. Remember that you can be the best teacher in the world, but you cannot become the best by just becoming comfortable with the ways you teach.
How to Adjust My Patterns
How to Adjust My Patterns Hacks for Adjusting any Sewing Pattern ChaptersDissecting Dress PatternsGetting the Right MeasurementsAdjusting the PatternConsider a SloperIf you are an old hand at making your own clothes, there is a good chance that you use a sewing pattern for every article of clothing you make.Arenât they handy? Skirt patterns, patterns for sleepwear, loungewear, tunic tops⦠you know, like the scrubs you see medical personnel wear.Like off-the-rack clothing, clothes patterns are sized â" and, just like ready-made garments, those sizes tend toward the majority which means, if you are extraordinarily tall or engaged in a long-running battle of girth, you may have trouble finding a pattern to fit you.Speaking from experience, youâre really in trouble if you have both extra height and extra padding!Still, there is no good reason why everyone cannot have stylish clothes that fit well, that they are comfortable wearing â" a fact that seems to escape the clothing industry. Thank goodness for patterns sewing!Letâs say you just ran across a really cute Kwik Sew or Lookbook pattern; you know you would feel great wearing that outfit! If that is the case, this section is for you.If home sewing is totally your bailiwick â" you would feel lost without a treadle under your foot, please bear with us as we highlight features of a standard dress pattern for those less experienced seamstresses. You may actually provide extra guidance for our beginner sewing friends in the comments below, should you feel so inclined. If you are not of average size, you may consider downloading free sewing patterns and adjusting them to fit your measurements Image by Khusen Rustamov from PixabayImagine you are in a store where you can buy sewing patterns.Take a moment to look at any sewing pattern envelope: Simplicity, Butterick, even Vogue patterns, if you tend toward the elegant. Do you notice anything distinctive about these patterns you can buy? Each pattern-protecting sleeve shows more than one design on it and each design is slightly different. That doesnât mean that you will get four patterns in one envelope; those diverse sketches are meant to represent that you can make several articles of clothing from a single pattern.Once you settle on the pattern of your choice, maybe a wrap skirt or a dress tunic â" a great look if youâre taller than average, especially with an asymmetrical hemline, take those delicate papers out of their sleeve.Lay them out on your sewing table and study them carefully: the bodic e, sleeves, neckline and the length.Offhand, pattern pieces look a mess: solid and dotted lines running everywhere, notches; arrows, stars⦠it can all get very confusing to the uninitiated. That means that your first task is to get familiar with the symbols you will find on every pattern. Now, about those lines. Some pattern makers actually print what those lines are for on the pattern itself: how the pattern should be laid out with the grain of the fabric, seam allowances, or to shorten the proposed garment or the sleeves.Dotted lines that âshadowâ a solid line generally indicates the garmentâs seam allowance and, should your pattern have several solid lines that all converge on a point, that indicates that the pattern is sized.Simplicity patterns usually indicate which size each line represents; often by using standard âS, M, L, XLâ coding. They also usually relate such designations to an actual size: S would be a size 8, for example. You might think that, because pattern s are already sized, you have no hope of fitting that lovely wrap dress pattern you fell in love with to your unique measurements.Dressmaker, unless you know how to make your own dress pattern, this is where the rubber meets the road. Gather your sewing supplies; itâs time to learn how to adjust clothing patterns.Getting the Right MeasurementsIf you have ever visited a dressmaker (or tailor, if you are male), you know that the first step in creating a bespoke garment is taking measurements. The trick is, how are you going to measure yourself? Instead of measuring yourself for each of your sewing projects, measure your clothes instead Image by PublicDomainPictures from PixabayChances are you have an article of clothing that fits you particularly well.Instead of contorting yourself to take your own measurements â" a sure recipe for disaster, simply measure that garment that fits you so well, as a tailor would measure you.Lay out the pieces of the shirt pattern, skirt pattern or dress pattern you just bought. Next, pencil-sketch each piece in a notebook so that you can enter your values into that sketch rather than marking up the original pattern. No need to worry about your drawing skills; what matters are the measurements you will record on your sketches.Find good sewing courses here.Letâs suppose you want to make a pair of trousers, only because trousers are the most intricate articles of clothing to measure.First, lay them flat on the table to measure the waistband. You might consider pinning your tape measure to one si de of the fly and around the waistband, as needed. While they are still laying flat on the table, take your hip measurement at the trousersâ widest partNow, measure from just below the waistband to the crotch point.Next, measure the inseam â" from the crotch point to the hemand then, the outer seam: from the bottom of the waistband to the hem.Flip the trousers over to measure the widest part of the seat. You should also measure the hips again and you will measure again from the bottom of the waistband to the crotch point. Now fold the trousers in half so that the crotch point is visible. Again measure just below the waistband and across the top of the thigh portion.Invert your fold and measure again, from the side seam to the fold. You will also measure the arc from the waistband to the crotch point. For this, you should have a French curve, always recording those values onto your sketch. This completes measuring your trousers.Measuring a blouse or other top works on the same princip le.You will measure the neckline, the bust, the distance from shoulder to shoulder and shoulder to hem, from underarm to hem and the armhole, again using the French curve. It is critical that you do not round any of your measurements. If you add so much as an eighth of an inch to your hip measurement, for example, you are adding a full half-inch to the overall measurement! As long as youâre going this far, why not learn how to make your own patterns? Dress forms are also an effective way to adjust a pattern provided it is sized to your measurements Image by Lara Gonzalo from PixabayAdjusting the PatternFrom here, it is a matter of doing the math.Pin the store-bought pattern to your fabric, mindful of following the fabricâs grain. With tailorâs chalk in hand, mark your revised measurements directly onto the cloth.Compare your ideal measurements those on the pattern. If your waist measure exceeds that of the pattern, simply add the extra length you will need to make the trousers fit you.And so you go, comparing each pattern piece to the measurements youâve made, adding fractions of inches as needed. You might wonder what to do about seam allowances. The average seam allowance is five-eights of an inch or 1.58cm. So, as you go through your pattern, donât forget to add that extra measure when you do your calculations. Here is an example: the original pattern specifies a distance of 20 centimetres from the hip to the centre on th e back panel of the garment and your measurement is 21.2 cm.You cannot simply add 1.2 centimetres to the patternâs measures; remember that you will have two such panels, meaning that your additional width will be doubled. You must divide that extra 1.2 cm to ensure the proper fit. Now, add your seam allowance: 0.6cm+1.58cm+1.58cm = 3.22cm. (Note: both sides of the panels have seam allowances, that is why you add 1.58 twice). You should also look into pattern-making basics, whether for fashion design or to add embellishment to your existing wardrobe.Consider a SloperBefore you tuck yourself behind your sewing machine, we present another sewing hack: create a sloper. The garment industry makes ample use of slopers to make clothes that are all the same size. Slopers for industrial use are called blocks; there are slopers/blocks for tops, trousers skirts. You might think of a sloper as a stencil of your measurements.Unlike a pattern, a sloper will not incorporate any style or embellishmen ts such as ruffles, darts or pleats. There will be no sewing directions or other markings, and no seam allowances.Your sloper can be used to resize other patterns; you can also use it to create patterns of your own.In fact, you could design and create an entire wardrobe for yourself with just three slopers: a top, a trouser and a skirt sloper; and you only need that last one if you are mad for wearing skirts and dresses. As long as you already have a precise set of measurements, why not measure your best-fitting blouse for your shirt sloper and, if you have one, a pencil skirt for your skirt sloper. That doesnât mean you will forever wear only pencil skirts. Such a skirt is best to capture your waist and hip measurements and you can use your sloper to make an A-line dress, a circle skirt or even a gathered skirt if you so desire.Would you like more sewing tutorials?
